The LaSalle Parish 4th- and 8th-grade students consistently score among the highest in the state on the
National LEAP test.

There are several special programs in the LaSalle Parish School System including programs
for gifted and talented children, vocational programs, and a model foreign language program.

TEMPLE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY

Temple Christian Academy (TCA) uses the ABEKA program. Students have the advantage of smaller
classrooms, which provide more one-on-one attention. Tuition is considerably lower than most private
schools and is very comparable to day care rates.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
Louisiana Technical College, Rod Brady Branch, www.ltc.edu  is located here in Jena. The state-funded
vocational-technical school offers courses in the following programs:
Automotive Technology
Carpentry
Medical Office Assistant
Nursing Assistant
Office Systems Technology
Practical Nursing
Welding

HIGHER EDUCATION
Many colleges or universities are located near Jena. Five of these universities offer doctoral degrees
in the arts, sciences, engineering, medical, and legal fields. These universities are nationally and
internationally recognized as sponsoring extensive research activities.

Northwestern State University offers night classes at Jena High School. Louisiana Tech University offers
night classes during the Fall Quarter for PreK-12 classroom teachers.
